PointerStudio is a Windows app made by Khizoft. This page explains what happens to your data when you use the app and this website.
PointerStudio records, edits and exports on your own computer. Your recordings, projects and exported videos are saved in a folder on your computer. We do not upload them and we cannot see them.
The app contacts GitHub to check whether a newer version is available and to download updates. GitHub receives the usual technical information that any web request includes, such as your IP address, and handles it under its own privacy policy. The app does not send your recordings, screen content, microphone audio or file names.
Once each time the app starts, PointerStudio sends a small anonymous message to our server with three things: a random install ID (created on your computer, not linked to you or your hardware), the app version and your Windows version. We use it only to count how many people use the app. If the app crashes, it also sends anonymous error details: the type of crash, the error message and the first few lines of the technical stack, with folder names, your user name and your PC name removed so that only code file names remain. At most three crash reports are sent each time the app starts. None of this ever includes your recordings, screen content, microphone audio, window titles or any personal information. You can turn it off any time in Settings, under System, with the switch "Share anonymous usage stats".
The app captures the screen, window or area that you choose. It uses your microphone only if you select one. It records mouse clicks and key presses during a recording only to place zooms and to show keys in the video you are making. This information is stored with your project on your computer.
This website shows the download link and videos. When you download the installer, the file is served by GitHub. We may use privacy-friendly traffic statistics that do not use cookies or follow you across sites. We do not sell personal data.

We may update this policy when the app changes. The date above shows the latest revision.
